1960s Warren Platner for Knoll Bronze Easy Throne Chairs - A Pair

$12,500.00

Early Warren Platner for Knoll International Bronze Easy chairs In original purple and dark blue Cato fabric. these chairs came from the original owner with light wear. The Knoll International labels date these chairs to 1968 to 1970 as Knoll changed its name to Knoll International in 1968 and moved from 320 Park Ave to 745 Fifth Ave in 1970.

In the 1960s, Warren Platner saw an opportunity. “I felt there was room for the kind of decorative, gentle, graceful kind of design that appeared in period style like Louis XV, but it could have a more rational base instead of being applied decoration,” he said. Starting at the floor, Platner created a chair that comes up and envelopes and supports the sitter—resulting in a form that’s complementary to the person sitting in it, and to the surrounding environment.
