1950s Hans J. Wegner Papa Bear AP19 Chair and Ottoman Teak and Boucle
An original AP19 “Papa bear” chair designed by Hans J. Wegner for A.P. Stolen, designed in 1951 and made in Denmark. This example with new green wool, headstock fabric from the estate of Vladimir Kagan. A super nubby textured boucle wool. The ottoman sits higher which allows you to really nestle in to the chair.
This chair featuring open armrests and teak “paws” the chair looks and feels like a big bear giving you a hug. The frame is made of solid wood and is hand joined with beautiful through tenons attaching the legs to the frame. Lower to the ground the armrests hit at a perfect height for elbow resting.
Unmarked. The ottoman with a factory stamp.

Condition: New foam and upholstery. Fully restored. New green canvas straps. Original springs and horsehair backing retained.
